Our internal landscape report on firefighter cancer risk and exposure, and the public guidance behind every ThePharmaBridge report.

Where the evidence comes from

Every statement in a ThePharmaBridge report traces to a dated public source: the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, IARC Monograph 132, the NASEM 2022 PFAS guidance, NIOSH, NFPA 1580 and the IAFF/IAFC Wellness-Fitness Initiative. The evidence base is versioned, its version is stamped on every report, and clinician review is the gate before wider use. The report below is our own internal synthesis; it is not peer-reviewed.

Abstract

Comprehensive analysis of cancer risk, toxic exposure patterns, and gaps in current preventive care access for U.S. firefighters.

This report provides an in-depth examination of the elevated cancer burden among firefighters, analyzing exposure sources including PFAS foam, diesel exhaust, and structure fire combustion products.

Key topics

  • Epidemiological data on firefighter cancer rates
  • Toxic exposure sources and risk factors
  • Current screening and prevention protocols
  • Gaps in access to preventive care
  • Recommendations for system-level interventions

Expanding research library

Additional reports on occupational exposure biomarkers, department-level screening protocols, and health equity metrics are in development.
